Automobile Registration and Licensing
All new residents that drive are required to have a state
driver's license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance from a local company
within 30 days of residency, employment, or registering a child in a public
school.
New residents that possess a valid license from another state are only
required to pass a visual examination. New residents that don't drive may obtain
a state identification card with valid identification.
Miami-Dade charges a 7% tax upon registration of an
imported vehicle that was not in the possession of the current owner for the
previous 6 months. New residents that are required to pay the tax may get a tax
credit based upon any similar tax that was paid in another US jurisdiction. For
